DIY: A herb garden

Regan has been busy with another DIY project, recently. He made a garden planter bed out of wooden pallets. He put the box on wheels, as it is very heavy and it means we can move the box in and out of the sun as required.

He put little rope handles on the outside to pull it with. Then we found out that our pet rabbits could jump up in the box, we knew it needed more height. So Regan had the clever idea of drilling planter pots around the outside to make a bunny-barricade.

We filled it with some good quality potting mix, and fertilized it with bunny pellets and some organic liquid fertilizer.

We bought some seedlings from Masters, and got to work planting our little herb garden.

Herbs we bought:

  • Corriander (Regan’s favourite)
  • Basil (my favourite)
  • Parsley
  • Dill
  • Thyme
  • Marigold flowers to deter bugs
  • Kale for the planter box

I also re-planted some chives that I had growing in another pot.

A mini bay tree we bought. We will plant it in a large pot.

I’m so excited to have more herbs in my garden, and I’m so happy with how Regan’s project has turned out. Bring on fresh kale and herbs!
